The Teen Court Program of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit provides meaningful and constructive alternatives to the formal prosecution of young offenders who have accepted responsibility for their offense s. This diversion program provides specific and immediate sanctions and services to youth. Middle and high school student volunteers will litigate actual cases with defendants by participating in the roles of a juror, defense attorneys and prosecution attorneys. Any middle or high school student ages 13 — 18 years old may volunteer.

State qualified mediators assist families in resolving child custody and parenting time disputes. This process is confidential and only approved agreements are shared with the court. Benefits for families: Parents remain the decision-makers for their children with reduced conflict and court involvement. Parents meet with a team of male-female evaluators who listen to each party and provide statute-based feedback on custody and parenting time concerns and assist parents in reaching agreements. If parents have attorneys, the attorneys are required to attend. This process is confidential and only approved agreements or recommended next steps are shared with the court.
